Kalamata International Table Olive Competition
Why should you participate in the Kalamata International Table Olive Competition?

The Kalamata Olive Oil Taste Laboratory of the University of the Peloponnese is accredited according to ISO 17025 for the sensory analysis of table olives.
In the context of this accreditation, we are proud to announce the Kalamata International Table Olive Competition.
This is the only table olive competition in Greece, promoting high quality standards, integrity of the taste panel and reliable results.

It is an international competition as all types of table olives and all producing countries are eligible to participate.

The Kalamata Olive Oil Taste Laboratory of the University of the Peloponnese belongs to the Kalamata Campus. The Kalamata Olive Oil Taste Laboratory is accredited with ISO 17025 and recognized by the International Olive Oil Council for the sensory analysis of virgin olive oils since 2015. In 2022 it obtained accreditation for the sensory analysis of table olives.

ISO/IEC 17025 allows laboratories to demonstrate that they operate competently and produce valid results, thus promoting credibility in their work both nationally and globally.

The analysis is based on the International Olive Council’s Guidelines for the Method of Sensory Analysis of Table Olives COI/OT/MO No 1/Rev.3 June 2021 and in accordance with the Commercial Standard applicable to table olives COI/OT/NC No. 1 December 2004

All types of table olives are eligible to participate on the condition that they are packaged

The registration of a sample costs 248 euros (including 24% VAT)

Our city

The Kalamata International Table Olive Competition is named after the city from which the most recognizable table olives come and where our university and our laboratory are located.

The laboratory

The University of the Peloponnese is a public university in Greece. The Kalamata Olive Oil Taste Laboratory belongs of the department of Agriculture of the University of the Peloponnese, located in Kalamata. The Kalamata Olive Oil Taste Laboratory is accredited with ISO 17025 and recognized by the International Olive Oil Council for the sensory analysis of virgin olive oils since 2015.

The laboratory provides training to undergraduate and postgraduate students, conducts or participates in research and offers seminars to professionals.
